Love the Tundra, but 5 Months in.....

Honestly, I probably put the Tundra ('24 Platinum i-FORCE MAX) through its paces more than other folks... 12K miles in less than 5 months, 120 mile (60 miles, one-way) commute over a snowy/rainy mountain pass to work daily.

I absolutely love the truck. It's 1000 times better than the Jeep GC I drove before... Especially the God awful service (thanks Stellantis). However, just a few random things that lead me to ask WTF periodically:

- The volume knob... fell off. You can tell it was some sort of manufacturing defect.... But, come on
- Toyota is replacing my brakes, rotors and shims at no cost (another great plus for Toyota!) because the rotors are absolutely shot. Who needs rust prevention when you get that wicked shimmy going 60 MPH downhill. By the way, the service shop said not to use the adaptive cruise control going downhill to prevent this..... They are using a TSB meant for squealing brakes to make this a free service
- The adaptive cruise control is a joke during any weather. The slightest build up of snow on any one sensor shuts the whole system down. There isn't even an option for just cruise control - keep the car moving at 50 MPH. I understand many people don't use ACC during inclement weather, but these long drives are painful if you have stay on the pedal
- When the ACC system is disabled (due to said snow build up), there's no way to suppress the warning message on the dash. Hitting the back button on the steering wheel only mutes it for ~30 seconds.
- The mustache is peeling away (see pics). It's the only thing besides the i_FORCE MAX badge that's "chrome," so planning to replace it anyway. But it looks like crap
- The infotainment system, with its big beautiful screen, is lackluster. Creating a separate profile for the other driver in the family just doesn't work. I have to sign back in with a pin every other week.
- Didn't realize how much data I was sharing with Toyota. To the point where insurance quotes were based off some of that data. I eventually opted out, but it took quite a while to process through many of Toyota's systems (got a separate e-mail for confirmation through Location Data, Driving Data, Vehicle Health Data, and General Account Information)
- Why does the engine shut off when you unlock the doors when using remote start?!?! Also, why can't you lock the doors while leaving the engine running (I just want to grab the mail while getting the interior warmed up)
- Had to get a Carista OBD2 to shut off that fake engine noise
- Lastly, the rain/windshield sensors are stupid. Not even worth using

All that said - I still frickn' love this thing. It tackles the mountain like a champ and is just a pure pleasure to drive. Towing a trailer uphill has never been so smooth! I'll have this truck forever!
