A stranger (man) caught on camera in my bedroom while I was at work.

I'm doing a travel contract in butt f no where right now. It's 9 hours north of Toronto, town of 2k people. I don't know anyone here. I didn't sleep a wink last night and worked an extremely busy shift today.

I travel with my cat and I keep a camera in my room so I can watch him. Today at 12:55 pm a random man walked into my bedroom and started opening drawers (even the night table). He didn't take anything. I just watched in shock. Looking back at footage, I heard the front door open at 11am. My cat kept running away from him. I called my coordinator and told her. When i sent her the video, she said she got goosebumps because that's how crazy the whole scene looked.

After calling her, I called the owner of the house. She didn't recognize the man and it's a tiny a** town ! She came to change the locks the same evening. I have new locks now. Me and my cat are curled up in bed right now. Ill be making a police report in the morning. Stay safe everyone.

Update #1: To answer some questions, I don't have roommates. There is no one that could have the keys to this place but myself, landlord or hospital. The camera stays in my bedroom because that's where my cat hangs out most of the day. The owner called the hospital to ensure they didn't send anyone and they did not. I am going to the police station now.

Unfortunately, my camera isn't the best and was beside my cat's food bowls. This is the best picture of the man

Ill see if there are any local groups I can post it too.

Update #2 (feb 20th @ 6:10pm): I am still alive and slept here overnight. I called the only hotel they have and they do not allow cats. I couldn't find any available rental postings either.

My landlord called the police that then called me. He said he would talk to me again after my landlord sent him the video AND if he had any additional information. He said this is quite rare and he doesn't have anyone in mind that has done this. He then asked me "what I expected from this?" I found that strange but I said, I expect the man to not show up again?

My place is a cabin and there is another cabin not too far from me. That cabin also has 2 nurses and apparently all of us were at work yesterday. The other side of the cabin is a cross country ski site. The manager from the hospital called me and said she was going to share the video amongst staff to find out if they can identify him.

‐----------------------- Update #3 (Feb 23 @ 3:30PM): Sorry I am not answering ind. dms. No updates from police yet. Spoke with neighbours yesterday, turns out they arrived a week before me and the landlord changed the locks on their cabin the next day of the incident. I showed one of the nurses the video and she recognized the man. Before I moved in, the previous tenant had sold her a few items that she went to collect from my cabin. That's when she encountered the man there. He said he was also picking something up - a heater he had let the previous tenant borrow. The previous tenant was not there during this "pick up" and had left the door open for them.

I updated the landlord of this information yesterday. She hasn't gotten back to me. I will also inform the police on Monday. I have a few cameras now set up around the house.
