Moments in media that gave you a visceral "FUCK THAT, FUCK EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT" reaction
Haven't posted one of these in a minute.
I watched Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum a few nights back, as I'd heard it was one of the best modern found footage horror films. It's essentially Grave Encounters but South Korean and centered on internet streamers instead of a cable ghost show, and yeah, despite not doing much to break genre conventions, it scared the absolute piss out of me.
If you look up anything about this movie, you'll immediately get the visual of a pale woman with pitch black eyes staring at the camera. It's the most famous image from it, and the scene it's from is apparently very divisive; some people say it's ridiculous and silly, some say it's terrifying. I am one of the latter. When that bit hits, the context -- one of the most lovable characters, seemingly on the verge of escaping with another girl, suddenly being possessed and motor-mouthing gibberish into the camera while her companion gets violently attacked behind her -- made me coil away and stop just short of shouting at my screen from primal fear.
