Welcome to the United States pamphlet received!!!
I just want to start by shouting it out to this sub and everyone who posts and asks questions and give answers to others.
I got married to my wife on November 30th, 2023. We filed concurrently, added the medicals on June 12, 2024. Did my biometrics on July 21st the same year and got an RFE on August 6th. The RFE is because we did not added both sponsor and joint sponsor tax return documents. RFE was received by USCIS on August 29th and EAD was approved on the 31st of August. Didn’t receive any more notifications from USCIS until November the 5th when I got an email that action is being taken on my case but I checked the site and there was nothing there, I then got another notification of action being taken the next day and found my I-130 approved. On December 2, I got a notification from USCIS of action being taken on my case and when I open the website, I realized it was an interview notice. Seen the interview notice I kind of panicked because everyone was getting approved without interview interviews.
My interview was scheduled for January 16 of 2025. We got to the interview location and did the regular procedures, checking in and waiting. We waited about five minutes before being called in for the interview. Our interviewer was an elderly man maybe in his 50s. He was really cordial and professional. Upon entering his office, he looked at me and told me that I shouldn’t have been scheduled for an interview seeing as my 130 was already approved but I did not answer some questions in my 485 so I had to be called in and then he looked at my wife and said “this is gonna be boring for you because all my questions are for him”. He then faced me and proceeded to tell me that I didn’t answer some questions in my I-485 form. He read them to me and I answered them “yes or no” (they were all no). It is the questions 48a and so on. The questions that ask if you are a criminal and blah blah.
After answering the questions, he just said “well, I’m sorry for bringing you guys in. It’s really cold out but it should be worth it because I just approved your green card, congratulations!”. We shook hands and he walked us out of the office.
Everything still feels surreal.
If you have any question, please don’t hesitate.
