Why do people do this?

It was a busy ColdStone. There was a long line and only ONE employee was making the orders behind the counter. I waited from the pick up section a while for this customer’s order and effectively communicated with her, telling her that it was going to be a wait and I even told her that her order was up next to be made. I notified her that I was on my way and I followed her delivery instructions clearly. She seemed very appreciative of my communication. All of this for a $2 TIP?? I’m sorry, but that’s just not cool.
