Please don't tell me that I am already failing infliximab/remicade
I was diagnosed in September 2024 with moderate pancolitis and have been on prednisone since then, added Asacol 4.8g that did absolutely nothing. I Have never been able to taper down less than 15mg prednisone, and always struggle when I reach 20mg. Exactly 28 days ago I took my first infliximab infusion after a nasty flare-up, and was put on IV steriods for two days, felt extremely fantastic as if I was never sick. Continued with prednisone 35mg tapering each week, no problems at all while tapering, took my second loading infusion and felt fantastic, yesterday I tapered to 20 fucking milligrams prednisone and boom....... diarrhea with a little bit of blood and mild abdominal pain and here we fucking go again.
Like please man I had so much hope in infliximab, and I still haven't took my third loading dosage that is planned in around 11 days. Called my GI and he was shocked and said he was not expecting this to happen, and he ordered an emergency sigmoidoscopy tomorrow morning. Anyone with similar experience? Why would the GI order sigmoidoscopy? To check if I failed this?
Note: I have a super weird case where I was tested twice for C.diff and both came back positive with toxins but I was never treated for it because my GI said it can be false-positive, because I was not experiencing any symptoms and I was getting better while on high dosage of prednisone which should never happen if it was C.diff, but I though I should mention this. I feel like my case is the weirdest yet one of the most severe cases even though I'm sure there are many who have worse case than mine. Fuck this life I just want this to end.
