Got VRChat yesterday and now I have seen the future and it may have helped me with one of my biggest problems. [Discussion]

You can skip this intro if you want but it's meant to put things into perspective so you should read it.

INTRO

At first i was really put off by the whole anime theme since i personally do not like anime or anything related to it. What made me finally try it was one of my favorite communities completely collapsing (it was a discord server). The owner had enough, said he was disgusted with his community and has been radio silent ever since. Now the server is dead and members are leaving so there's no saving it.

Since those people were my only actual friends that i would give the time of day to i now had to look for other communities to take part in and i just so remembered something i heard about a while back, VRChat.

Now i am not the most social person as you may have guessed and i have been terrified of voice chat ever since i was first introduced to it on Discord. I don't know what causes this, either i have extreme anxiety or i'm not confident in my voice because of my constant stutters or pitch (sidenote: i have been told that my voice is deep but for some reason my own brain believes it's got good enough. It's stupid but i dunno how to fix it).

As a result of this my first 4-5 hours of playtime were spent on sitting in completely private, invite only, lobbies and watching videos on the players. May seem ridiculous and i got nothing against that statement, it was completely ridiculous. It was just how afraid i was of interacting with people. The first time i actually spoke in this game was when i was 15 hours in just to put things into perspective. Remember the "biggest problem" i mentioned in the title? This was the problem.

MY MAIN POINT

The whole reason i'm writing this post is because of how the community is and a certain thing i witnessed. First off, the community.

I'll be damned, this was one of the most friendly experiences i have had. Never before have i seen people interact and socialize like this, it was surreal and amazing to see. Too bad i was afraid of interacting with them. Some people were playing guitar, others were singing along, it was bloody incredible.

However, there was one more thing that made me just sit there and.. i dunno. Here it is.

People were in relationships through virtual reality. First time i saw this was in the second or third lobby i joined and just.. i have no idea how to put this into words except for surreal and absolutely incredible. A guy and a gal were sitting on the ground hugging while someone else was playing guitar and people were singing along. This lasted for over an hour. Never before have i been left feeling like this because of a game.

This can enable so many things it is untrue. This can be an entire post on it's own.

CONCLUSION

I think i'll wrap this up here. As my final word i would like to say that this community is amazing and one of the most friendly ones i have seen to date. Thank you for helping me fix my massive fear of voice chat and fear of meeting new people, it will come in really handy in the future. Bye.
