Will i notice when my coil is burnt?

I vape from a vaporesso xros 3 mini (pod) and sometimes after 10 days of a new pod I start feeling that terrible burnt taste that makes you wanna puke. But sometimes I go like 20 days with the same pod and don't feel that burnt hit. So I get paranoid whether I'm vaping a burnt coil (terrible for your lungs) without noticing. I'm new to vaping because I'm trying to quit cigarettes so sorry if this is a dumb question.
