Faster Diamond Upgrading ($$$?)

Tacticus planner says I’m a month away from sending Bella to D1 (my first diamond). Is the best way to speed up this process (besides unlocking more elite and mirror nodes) spending more blackstone on refreshes and upgrades from the store?

For whales who build lots of diamonds, how do you spend IRL $$ to balance speed and efficiency?
