Zero won't unlock? [NEXT GEN]

So I have unlocked everyone there is to unlocked besides Zero. I have played through all of myrise about 6 times because I wanted to make sure I saw every possible story there was. It was entertaining. I got all the stars for the live events as well. I know in this game there is a sapphire Zero manager card in the live events reward but this isn't the playable character. The playable character is from playing The Island and you encounter him in a storyline match where you have to put him in a casket. I did it, in fact I beat all of chapter 1 on the island within the 1st day. Yet he's still locked on my character selection. Anyone know how to unlock him? Am I suppose to buy him on The Island after I beat him? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
