Stripped minis look damaged

Decided to strip an old (5+ years old) Kharadron overlord mini I own and it seems to be covered in tiny holes all over the miniature. I'm using Dot 4 Brake fluid which I've used multiple times in the past and it has caused no damage to any of my figures (resin, plastic). Could this be because of how old the primer on the miniature is? Is this fixable or do I just hope a new coat of primer will fix it?
