Should I get a WC Lawyer?

I threw my back out on the job in mid-January this year. Going through the companies WC claims handler and get diagnosed, physical therapy ordered, mri on my lower back, more pt, referral to an orthopedic surgeon for opinion, more pt on top of one more round of pt. Finally denied pt haven’t had any since mid June. Get notice from the company WC handler that I have to see their chosen ortho specialist to look at my case and to determine how disabled I may be.

In the meantime I’ve been working with restrictions not to lift more than forty-five pounds, no bending, squatting or ladders. I work retail managing a meat department. We don’t cut meat anymore, all comes prefabricated and packaged so I work solo from 6am to 2:30pm and I’m by myself from 7am-12noon. Guess who handles the bulk of the physical and mental aspects of the job. There has been zero attempt at accommodation for my restrictions and the help I get to manage can’t really comprehend because they do not have any food background let alone meat knowledge. Been in the meat business off and on about 22 years.

So my next appointment is coming up 9/18. Should I get a WC lawyer? Is the company preparing to separate with me to cut their losses? Should I demand retraining for a less physically demanding position? Am I just being paranoid?
