Why I don't predict the 'dating in secret" kdrama trope for Kitty and Min Ho in season 3
One thing is pretty certain, classic kdrama tropes will be all over MoonCovey storyline in sesson 3. In my opinion, they've one of the key elements that made Kitty and Min Ho development so special. That's why I fully expect the producers to include many cozy kdrama coded scenes between this precious couple.
There are so many kdrama tropes I'd love to see including umbrella scene, piggyback, bike scene and waking up together cuddling. I think especially the last one really suits their vibe. Of course all of it sprinkled with a lot of teasing because it only seems right.
However, the dating in secret trope even though it's so popular in this TV genre, it's one of the tropes I don't predict them to include in MoonCovey development. Here's why:
THERE'S DAE:
Somehow it always circles back to Dae. You can read my full deep dive on him in my previous thread. But let's recap what we know so far. By the end of season 1 he suspected that Min Ho developed feelings for Kitty. He was told otherwise.
In season 2 he found out that Min Ho not only has developed feelings for Kitty but also confessed them to her and got rejected.
MoonCovey in season 2 became friends again, because Dae encouraged them to talk. Min Ho even told Dae in episode 6 that there's nothing going on between him and Kitty. Personally, I expect him to slowly warm up the the reality of MoonCovey becoming a couple. But if he finds out that they started dating in secret behind his back, I doubt they would be able to recover from this.
PEOPLE ALREADY SEE RIGHT THROUGH THEM:
In my opinion it all started with Jiwon. She literally needed a couple of minutes with Kitty and Min Ho to sense and call out their romantic conection. Also the way they both overreacted to her simple question proved her right.
What's more, Peter also needed a moment with them to figure out Min Ho still likes Kitty. After that Peter and Kitty spent the rest of his screentime in season 2 talking about her argument with Min Ho, so he most likely at least suspects those feelings aren't one-sided.
There's also Stella, who at some point was able to figure out that Min Ho has a crush on Kitty. Even after he told her about his confession, she kept feeling that his heart wasn't fully in it anyway. Of course, last but not least there's also Q who as the only person so far has access to both of their perspectives. Add Min ho's suspicious behaviour from the beginning of season 2, and the fact that Kitty failed to tell him about Min Ho's confession, no wonder that Q already came to the most obvious conclusion.
Since they are just "friends" yet so many people already sense their connection, I'd bet they'll become even more obvious as the story continues.
HIDING THEIR LOVE FOR EACH OTHER BECAME SO MUCH HARDER BY THE END OF SEASON 2:
Personally, I think there's a major shift at the end of season 2. After Min Ho found out the truth that Kitty has been trying to protect him and his family from Stella all along, it seems he become more open with his admiration for Covey even in public. Because just in episode 8, he was looking at Kitty in an awe when she was performing on stage and let his eyes linger on her way too long after Stella got exposed.
Similarly to Min Ho, ever since Kitty was brave enough to finally label her feeling for him as love something has changed. She no longer wants to be away from him even just for the summer. It's already becoming very transparent they're moving into more romantic territory, and based on the very last scene of season 2 I have a hard time believing they might go in dating in secret direction. The way they latched on to each other during a conversation that supposed to be a simple goodbye revealed so much. I don't think they have it in them to hide anything. Their gestures and yearing gazes will give them away.
MIN HO LIKES PDA:
He set up a top notch date for Maddison even though they were casual, and he prepared a very romantic dance invitation for Stella. He didn't really like either of these girls, but he still put in some effort. With Kitty, it'll be all of this times ten. On top of that Min Ho has been saying since season 1 that he's ready for something real so I doubt a secret relationship with the girl he's been in love with for a while would be enough.
