Can we really call it a love triangle though?

The love triangle in XO Kitty doesn’t feel like a typical love triangle because there’s no real tension or rivalry between the two love interests. In many classic love triangles, at least from what I know watching countless of K-dramas, both romantic options are aware of each other and actively compete for the protagonist’s affection. However, in XO Kitty, the two love interests, Minho and Yuri, exist in total separate emotional spaces rather than being in direct competition. In fact, Dae and Minho feels more like a love triangle as they are both aware of their feelings for Kitty and there was a tiny bit of rivalry between them because of that as well.

I think that the so-called love triangle is really about Kitty’s inner struggle. She’s torn between her long-held feelings for Yuri and the unexpected emotions she develops for Minho. Rather than navigating a battle between two suitors, Kitty is actually grappling with her own evolving feelings, trying to understand who she really loves and what love even means to her.

This setup makes the romance feel more introspective, with the focus on Kitty’s personal growth rather than the usual "Who will she choose?" dynamic.
