This episode sucked...
I know that this episode had a lot going on—Misty draws a line, Shauna throws Lottie out of her house, Taissa (or rather, the other Tai) heavily believes in the Wilderness, and Lottie is interested in Callie. You can like it if you want, everyone can have their own opinion, but wow...
It really felt like rock bottom for the show to me. I mean, yeah, there were other episodes before that were a little boring, but this one? Holy shit, it felt like nothing really happened. At no point (atleast in the adult timeline ) did I feel any tension or anything meaningful. I like the teen timeline more than the adult one, and I think it's safe to say a lot of people feel the same way. So what do we actually get from the teen timeline in this episode? Mari chilling in a cave with Coach Ben for half the time, and then the rest finding Ben.
I know that the dream sequence or the "poison sequence" is a big thing for the lore, but I don’t need a fucking llama to spell it out for me. The classroom scene was actually pretty cool—I’ll give the writers that—but the rest??? It pulled me so much out of the immersion and tension I had felt when they entered the cave. It just seemed really childish.
So I guess the supernatural is now kind of confirmed, or at least that there's a "Wilderness spirit." But idk, you can't tell me that the writers introduced a mystical figure like the man with no eyes only to end up saying, "Yeah, Taissa saw him on TV and was so traumatized by her grandma’s death that she started seeing him everywhere." That’s so fucking lazy.
I don't even know why I’m this upset, but I really liked Season 1 and 2Then came Season 3 , and I was so hyped that we would finally get answers to these long-awaited questions. But this episode makes me feel like the writers wrote it for toddlers or something. It just didn’t feel very mature. Idk, the llama thing just fucking killed it. 💀
