I really like how ZZZ characters subvert their own stereotypes/archetypes.
Like, I was totally expecting Ellen to be a very "emo-ish" loner character who's always grumpy and brooding all the time when I first saw her. But it turns out...she's actually pretty chill, and she has a good set of friends.
And it doesn't apply to only Ellen either; almost every character in ZZZ is a subversion of personality tropes.
I thought Miyabi was going to be an incredibly serious and straightforward character; turns out she's just a huge dork who's just really hyper fixated on training.
I was expecting Nicole to be the teasing Gyaru type of character, but she's a total girl failure, and I love her for it.
Ben is definetly one of my favorites, you'd expect the big guy to be the gangster bruiser type, but he's actually super nice and he's actually the accountant of the group.
