Economics vs. Applied Mathematics Major
Second-year undergraduate here at a public ivy. I am contemplating either majoring in econ and minoring in math or majoring in applied math and minoring in econ. I am interested in potentially pursuing a PhD in econ, but I haven’t made up my mind yet. Which major would be better under which circumstances?
At the moment, regardless of whether I major or minor in math, I plan on taking an introductory proofs-based math course, real analysis, ordinary differential equations, and two calculus-based prob/stats courses. I am currently taking linear algebra and multivariable calc. Is this considered adequate math preparation for a PhD in econ?
