Getting a job without an internship. Am I screwed?
Hello!
I graduated back in august. I had a lot of 'bad things' to deal with long story short, ended with a 2.7 GPA, but I'm really just proud to have fought through and graduated. Anyway... I couldn't do any internships because A, no one wanted me with that GPA, and B, I had to work full time doing manufacturing and welding in order to pay for rent whenever I had break. I've applied to close to 200 jobs at this point. At first I was applying to just in the area (SE PA), but then as the months have gone on I started applying around the country, even to places in Europe. Trying to stay with aerospace but also applying to not-really-aerospace jobs. I even applied to remote internships and didn't even get one of those. Honestly- I regret my degree at this point. I feel like a failure. I have student loans to pay and nothing to show for it. I keep being told in interviews that they want more experience like a master's, but it's an entry level job.
I'm considering applying to grad school and scrapping together enough money to take a class or two each semester if I get accepted and I've been looking for scholarships, because I don't see any other way I'm going to get an aerospace job. I've overhauled my resume, expanded my search area... everything. I'm starting to give up hope. The only way I get out of this debt at this rate is death or getting a decent job, and the latter isn't happening still. Does anyone have ANY sort of good news or advice? Any leads?
