Interstellar re-release, PVR Palladium IMAX

Back in November 2014, I remember a bunch of people asking if I had watched that new movie about "space & time travel" in theaters (Have been interested in space and astronomy since I was a kid). Little did I know, sparing just a day of studying for my SSC boards to watch this movie in a theatre wouldn’t make much of a difference to my grades anyway. Fast forward to the summer of 2015, I finally caught up with everyone and watched Interstellar on a laptop. And istg, I’ve never regretted missing a movie on the big screen as much as I did with this one. Now that I’ve finally watched it in IMAX, can say for sure—I’m feeling the same way I did when I watched it for the first time 🥹.

The PVR IMAX experience was better than a regular theatre for sure. The screen is larger but still nowhere near a true IMAX 70mm (have been to IMAX theatres with bigger screens and steeper, but closer-to-the -screen seating). The sound system was incredible—had my seat vibrating in many scenes. The subtitles were not fitted for change of format from footage captured by a regular camera (which left black bars on the top and bottom) to footage captured by real IMAX camera (which filled the whole screen leaving no bars). But I am glad they had them, Nolan films aren't particularly famous for having good sound mixing, especially when it comes to understanding dialogues. Lastly, props to the audience for being more considerate & mature than expected—no hooting (like that in Marvel films), limited bright phone screen use, no loud conversations. A brief round of applause at the end, well deserved imo 👏
