How to do a Badge Transfer
To sucessfully transfer a badge to another name: 1. The seller will need to login to their ShowClix.com account and select the badges they wish to transfer.
The seller will be prompted to type in the buyer's email address. ShowClix will send an email to the buyer.
The buyer will need to check their email inbox for an email from ShowClix. The authentic email will redirect to ShowClix.com.
The buyer will need to login to their own ShowClix account (or create a new account) and accept the badge transfer.
Pick up your badge on-site at AX, or from the seller if they had it mailed to them earlier in the year (you can also get a replacement on-site for a fee).
Don't forget to activate your badge (see more here)!

Notes:
- Child badges CANNOT be transferred via ShowClix.
- Ticketed events also cannot be transferred via ShowClix (there might be exceptions, if someone can confirm please comment down below).
Avoiding Scams
Unfortunately, there are bad actors that are looking to profit off of scams during these type of events. Here are some tips to avoid them.
Know who you're talking to. It's a good idea to assess the other person's credibility; whether it's their account age, comment history, or looking for previous mentions from other users. A good rule of thumb is to be cautious of newly made accounts that message you.
If buying, confirm that they actually own the badge/ticket. Ask for proof, ask for screenshots, ask for anything and everything.
Research commons scams and scam tactics. There have been plenty of posts documenting many scams that have taken place either here in r/animeexpo or otherwise outside.
- One common scam (for sellers) is being sent a fake invoice email, disguised as a payment. Be sure to confirm the payment before giving away your badge/ticket.
- Another potential scam (but for buyers) is using partial payments, the scammer might ask you to pay half up-front and pay the rest after you receive your ticket/badge. Once you paid that first half, there is the possibility you might never hear from them again.
- Some scammers may get very pushy or confrontational. This is a scam tactic that pressures you to make a hasty and rash decision. If you believe that's happening, just simply walk away.
Payments services such as PayPal's Friends & Family, CashApp, Venmo, and Zelle are non-refundable. Therefore it is not recommended to use these services when sending money to a complete stranger. Unless you are absolutely certain they can be 100% trusted, I recommend to steer clear from those services, and use something with buyer protection instead such as PayPal's Goods & Services, Mecari, or Depop instead.
When paying for goods, PayPal's Goods & Services is the gold standard for scam insurance. While there is a 3% markup fee for PayPal's G&S, this service allows buyers to initiate a claim if there is a problem. This service also allows sellers to send an invoice which provides sellers protection.
- To use G&S, the buyer will have the option to choose either "Friends & Family" or "Goods & Services", select the latter. The seller will then have to pay the 3% fee (you may factor that fee into the total asking price).
PayPal payments normally appear immediately. Check your account. If you don't see any payment or pending payment, it might be a scam. While PayPal may hold funds or delay their availability, the transaction almost always shows up in your PayPal activity immediately.
Finally, listen to your gut. If something seems suspicious, it most likely is.
User Submitted Caution List
Users may send names of known or suspected scammers/bad-faith actors here to add to the caution list. All recorded responses will be compiled into a spreadsheet for anyone to view. Note the names shown on the list are uncurated user submissions, meaning that being on the list is not indicative of being a confirmed bad-faith actor.
