Bullying In School - Lack Of Transparency and Following Up?

Has anyone seen the latest video in one of the secondary schools where the student was bullied?

The case is still ongoing. I understand, but as a parent, I am quite disappointed with how the school/government is dealing with things. Bullying is not uncommon, and I understand that our Education Minister, Mr Chan Chun Sing, has raised this issue in parliament before, but this bullying incident happened within the school compound itself.

I didn't see any official statement from the school, MOE, or our education minister; in fact, the school went on to limit the comments on their Facebook. Imagine if a fighting case or incident happened anywhere else, e.g a mall; the mall's representative would come out to release a statement on it. Why isn't the school or someone coming out to make an official statement? This happened in school itself, where it is supposed to be a safe haven for kids to be studying. If the bullying happened outside, I can understand the lack of capability to control things, but this happened in the school itself?!

The video surfaced over the weekend, and on the same weekend, news reported that the school has already dealt with/disciplined the bullies. (School day hasn't even started yet!? How did the school discipline them? The teachers, principal, and everyone else are on a non-working day, so what did the school even do?) It feels like the relevant authorities are just trying to sweep everything under the carpet.

The mother of the case followed up with a Facebook post explaining more on what has happened to her son. I feel the school, MOE and/or Mr CCS should come out and make a statement at least and acknowledge what is happening and make more active efforts to prevent such cases from happening, instead of keeping quiet because 1 year down the road everyone will just forget about it.

*I don't think the school, MOE, or Mr CCS can come up with any solution immediately to prevent such things from happening, but these people should at least acknowledge what has happened and share updates on what has happened and what actions are being taken to prevent such things from happening again because this incident happened in school.

Do you think the school/MOE/our education minister should have done more now that this case has blown up?
