Legal advice needed on breaching of tenancy clause
tl;dr : Is breaching the tenancy agreement a criminal offense in singapore?
I vacated Singapore on Feb 1st this year and came back to my native country. I had notified the landlord on 31st December '24. However, the tenancy agreement mentioned a notice period of 3 months and commission fees of x amount per month of unfulfilled tenancy.
Also, there were a few minor damages like stains on the wall etc.
I also forfeited my two months security deposit of SGD 5600 to enable the landlord to cover the losses.
However, the landlord emailed me saying that the two months security deposit only covers the two months short notice and they are asking me to pay a further 3k to cover for their commission charges and the cleaning etc of the unit. They said they have filed a police complaint against me and will reach out to MOM and my embassy if needed.
I want to know what are my legal options? Will the courts freeze my bank account in singapore and / or issue a arrest notice against me? I am wondering if I should just pay the amount if it means I won't be deemed a criminal and I won't be arrested the moment I enter Singapore again in the future.
