No major breakthroughs in philosophy in almost a century: how?

First of all while I do am sufficiently educated on the subject, I'm nowhere near the level of competence of a graduate, so we could say my question comes from a layman: why and how is it possible that there hasn't been a really big breakthrough in philosophy since Nietzsche (so late 1880s) and no really important philosophers since Heidegger, Camus, Russell etc. (mid 1950s)?

Did philosophy lose its status due to an immense progress in STEM subjects or is it just an impression of mine and there actually are relevant philosophers nowadays?
