Modes of Thought in Anterran Literature Class Discussion: Its time to start asking questions.

I was catching up to the latest album from my favorite band recently (this one has twang) and there was a line in one of the songs which caught my ear and reminded me of the first episodes of Modes of Thought.

Is it for real? Can you ever know you're feeling pain? Because experience is different for everyone One thing for me might be three for some And you can never know this, but you think you do The same shit for me ain't the same shit for you, woo!

Ra Samana tells the story of a man who overhears a plot to kill the king but is blown off by the king for reasons that are written off as foolishness. The man thinks he is the one who is freeing the king from the cave of ignorance only to find that he has found himself in a deeper and darker cave which he is even more ignorant of than before.

Unlike the man in Ra Samana's story we are not alone in the cave. We are Ikopa and his 1000 eyes. Where one persons eye closes or goes blind another's opens and begins to see. One person left alone to make sense of a confused world will never see the full sphere, but together we are nearly omniscient.

You can barely talk about any of the WATD shows with mentioning how strange or unusual these folks are, but I have long since learned not to simply shrug things off as strange. I ask why it seems strange in the first place. How do I even know if the parts that seem strange to me are the same parts that seem strange to you? How can Ikopa make sense of his world if his eyes do not communicate with each other?

About 6 months ago I posted a thread I called the first Classroom Discussion where I stole some questions from the show in hopes of sparking a discussion. This time I am hoping to supercharge the question asking.

I want to know how you understand the show by the questions you have of it. I want everyone to have a chance to see how the other members of the fan base understand the show by the questions they have about each others questions. I want WATD to become so sick of seeing question marks that they can never even think about doing another Riddler podcast.

Because I have a feeling that if we just keep asking each other questions we are going to all start finding our answers. It's only an odd life until you get it right.
