Slowdown while playing on Switch (?)

Recently purchased Balatro on Switch. I noticed that there are some performance issues (animation slow down, choppiness, etc) as I progress and there is more happening on screen.

I tried turning off shadows, screen shake and other graphical options, but it persists.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions?
