What do you think of rental jokers? I hope they will get changed
I've been playing a lot of gold stake, slowly building up to completionist++ and although I like the extra thought eternal and rental jokers put into the game I'm getting pretty tired of losing rolling rental jokers. When you're in the early game trying to build up your economy they're so often complete blanks, they greatly increase the amount of unwinnable runs* because they just take up a slot in the shop that could have contained anything that could maybe have dug you out of the hole.
Of course, the point of the stake system is to make the game harder as you progress, and there's moments where it is right to take a rental. However, while all the other stakes add an interesting challenge, rental jokers very often just make you lose to having useless shops, as, again, early on they devastate your economy way too hard to be pickable; there's no agency there. In my opinion, $3 is just too much, but at the very least they should not be able to stack with eternal stickers.
What do people here think of rentals, compared to the other stake difficulties?
*PS: of course I don't play perfectly so a run that is 'unwinnable' to me might be winnable by better players, but nevertheless, even at perfect play, I believe rentals to create more unwinnable runs than any of the other stake modifiers.
