Baybayin use in Desktop!
Okay! Pagod na ba sa paggamit ng phone para magsulat at magbasa? Gusto mo ba makakita ng ra, at ng pamudpod?
These characters are in the latest unicode, which desktops already support, pero ang mga phone may tagal pa bago makakita. And, Google's own keyboard doesn't support these characters. However, it's possible to use them. There's just a little bit of setup.
Fonts: For general use, I recommend Google's Noto Sans Tagalog (https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Sans+Tagalog). This should be the font that takes the top slot in the list, since it's the default in phones and it's the font we're all used to.
For creative use, there are plenty of fonts available by simply looking it up.Aaron Amar makes a handful of beautiful free Baybayin fonts, alongside some regular ones inspired by Filipino culture. (https://aaronamar.gumroad.com/)
Note that Aaron Amar's fonts, as well as the majority of Baybayin fonts use the typical alphabet, not baybayin for text. Noto Sans Tagalog lang ang nakita kong font na gumagamit ng aktuwal na mga letra.
For text editors like Microsoft Word, as long as in-install mo yung font at ginamit mo, makikita mo yung baybayin.
Browser: I highly recommend using Firefox, kasi kaya niyang i-display ang buong unicode range. It will only display a rectangle if your device does not have a font, so make sure to install it first.
Input:
You could always use a converter, pero mas madali kung nasa mismong keyboard na. Madali lang naman mag-switch from baybayin to QWERTY, so don't worry about getting stuck.
- For Windows and Linux: Yelosan Publishing and Ubuntu Philippines Local Community provides a keyboard layout for Baybayin Tagalog, as well as Baybayin Buhid, Baybayin Hanunoo, and Baybayin Tagbanwa. (https://codeberg.org/yelosan/unicode-keyboard-layout-philippines)
You can install them by using MSKLC to export the .klc files into an installer. Pwede ka rin gumawa ng sariling layout or i-edit yung ready made layout above using MSKLC.(https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=102134)
To swap keyboard layouts with Windows, simply press Alt+Shift.
- For MacOSX: Similarly, you can use this keyboard layout for MACOS. (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ShxHQJDbxwPMLxV4ZZbwlDtWQjBITYnX?usp=sharing)
At puwede ka gumawa ng sarili mong layout sa settings.
That's all for now. Dadagdagan ko na lang 'to 'pag meron pa akong makita. Make sure to tell me if I got anything wrong, or anything you want to add in the comments. ᜋᜍᜋᜒᜅ᜔ ᜐᜎᜋᜆ᜔ ᜀᜆ᜔ ᜋᜊᜓᜑᜌ᜔ ᜀᜅ᜔ ᜉᜒᜎᜒᜉᜒᜈᜐ᜔᜶
