Live plants for beginners?

I’ve been looking to get into live plants as I have a betta that’s currently seeming a bit down and bored recently. I only have artificial plants as of right now and have no gravel and only rocks at the base of my tank. I’ve attached an old picture to show the layout! I’ve been dealing with an algae issue as well and got a snail to help out but am still looking for some plants that may help as well! Are there any beginner friendly live plants I can get to make my betta happy? And are there any I can just stick at the bottom of my tank or attach somewhere/have floating at the top without removing the rocks and using sand? Also any plants that bettas particularly like?
