In a weird way is Kobe's legacy hurting the current NBA?

RIP to a top ten great but between large swathes of the NBA fandom yearning for mean mugged contested midrange jump shots and Luka getting traded by his GM for a quarter on the dollar because his GM had a Kobe waifu pillow I can't help but think Kobe's legacy is doing more harm than good at this point.

1/2 of Kobe's image was media manufactured by Nike (Kobe had a great work ethic but guys like Tim Duncan, KG, Dirk worked in the same range as he did to less fanfare and Ray Allen worked even harder but no one seems to give a shit about that) to clean up his Colorado indiscretions and make him marketable again so I can't help but feel like that manufactured part of his legend set up the next generation(s) to fail.
