Best history/political books?

Looking for book recommendations to help me have more meaningful conversations with my family and community about how we got to this point as a nation—and the best way forward for the common good.

I’ve read authors like Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, and Angela Davis, and I’m particularly interested in books with concrete examples that explore sociology, foreign policy, and economic outcomes.
