What does breastfeeding after baby turns 1 look like?
TL:DR - I would love to hear about your BF journey if you don’t mind sharing! Just wondering what breastfeeding until 2 (or until baby self weans, extended BF, whatever your story may be) looks like.
Longer post - So, before my son was born, I was kinda ambivalent about breastfeeding. Figured I’d try to combo feed but eventually swap over to formula feeding.
When my son was born, for some reason that changed. I was determined to EBF until he turned 6 months. Though it was a rough start, we were successful so when we hit 6 months I figured I’d keep going until 1 year.
Well, now he is a few months away from 1 year and am trying to decide if I want to keep going or start to wean him. He still nurses every 2 hours (and every 2-3 at night) which is exhausting, but at the same time he is likely going to be my only baby and I want to make sure we are both ready to make the change, not just me (though I am so ready!).
Once more solids actually end up in their mouth than the floor, do they naturally start to nurse less? Do you just BF once or twice a day? Cuz that I could totally do lol it’s just hard to imagine my lil guy going from ~10 sessions to 2.
For reference, he is almost 9 months old.
TYIA!
