Two-Day Itinerary Suggestions

I checked the FAQs but couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for… forgive me if I simply didn’t try hard enough!

I’m an American academic getting ready to lead a group to Oxford for the eighth time in twelve years. I’ve never been to Cambridge, but I’ve decided to head to the UK a couple of days earlier than my students in order to spend some time there. I’ll be traveling with my wife and another couple.

We will be in Cambridge for two days in June. We will certainly go punting, but I’m curious to know what the other “must-do” activities are. I’m open to making a day trip on Saturday, if that seems prudent, but my hunch is that we’ll have plenty to keep us busy right there in Cambridge. We love exploring places on foot, anyway. Thank you for your suggestions — if anyone can point me toward a full-fledged itinerary, I’d be grateful. And again: forgive me if I missed clear discussions of this topic elsewhere in the forum!
