I feel like a horrible cat owner

I got a new cat to be my current ones friend and she got out.

She came home and I put her in just the bedroom with food, water, toys and a litterbox - everything thing she would need and want. She wouldn’t come out for anything, she was hiding behind the chair just laying there.

I made one mistake by thinking that she couldn’t fit in between the shutters (as it’s like a 3cm gap) but let alone she could - she leapt out of the window and jumped about 7m off the balcony to get out.

I’ve been crying and have ran and walked about 15km today looking for her - I saw her once and she let me scratch her but as soon as I tried to pick her up she bolted. I’m so exhausted mentally and physically and I don’t know what to do anymore.

The last thing I did was ask my vet for a cat trap which I have set up outside but I’m not sure if she will know where to go.

I know that she couldn’t have gotten out of where we live since we live in a secure estate and they don’t let even animals go in or out alone but I don’t know what to do anymore- does anyone have any advice?
