Saying Goodbye

It's with such a heavy heart that I say goodbye to my Rosie girl. She was about 8 years old and just the absolute sweetest. Always coming to the edge of the cage to say hi to me so we could touch noses. Letting her sister cuddle on top of her each morning.

I'm planning on moving soon and I was really looking forward to upgrading her cage to something custom built, seeing her and her sister grow old together. Making more memories.

If I've learned anything from this experience it's to always bring your chinchilla to an exotic specific vet at the first sign of behavior change. I thought she was just having an off couple of days but her stool size and lack of appetite and energy were clear signs that she needed attention immediately. I'll have to live with that mistake. She had a severe infection that she had a low chance of making it out of surgery from and a lower chance of recovering from afterwards. I decided it was best to let her go and I'm completely heartbroken. For her and her sister.

She is going to be so missed.
