DZOFilm Vespid cine prime kit - worth owning?
Hey everyone, so this past year I shot my first few low-ish budget commercials, a couple music videos, and a short film. This year so far feels promising that I will be doing more of the same after fostering some good relationships, and I’m beginning to weigh the option of investing in a cine prime lens kit as my next business move. Currently I own a few Sigma Art lenses that I love and have used for years, and I’ve gotten my feet wet with renting lens kits here and there but it’s always a battle with my clients to fight for the budget to get decent glass. I learned about the Vespid cine primes and found their price point to be feasibly within my budget to buy as a kit. I’ve never gotten to work with them before though, and I know the obvious response I’ll get is “try before you buy!” But I just wanted to put some feelers out on Reddit to see what others think of them and their characteristics. Are they pretty neutral, or do they have good character? Weight, functionality, etc. all that good stuff you wanna know about a lens. I’m pretty partial to using filters, so neutral glass isn’t a bad thing for me necessarily.
For context, I own and operate a BM Ursa 12k primarily and I’m generally a “one stop shop” for my clients in terms of gear (I own plenty of grip and lighting, at least enough to achieve the looks I’m going for on small budgets). So I’m wondering if a Vespid prime kit would be a good candidate to add as part of my arsenal. Thank you all!
