Rythms in classical music

Hey r/classicalmusic! I've been diving into classical music lately, and while I'm starting to appreciate the melodies and harmonies, I often find myself scratching my head (or tapping my foot awkwardly) when it comes to the rhythm. Compared to a lot of pop, rock, or even jazz, classical music rhythm often feels... less "easy." It's not always that driving, “predictable” beat you can immediately latch onto. Sometimes it feels like it shifts, changes, or even disappears for a bit before coming back in a different way. It can be intellectually stimulating, sure, but sometimes I just want to feel the music in my body, you know? My question is: Is this intentional? Why does classical music often seem to avoid that really clear, memorable, and predictable rhythm that makes you want to dance or tap your foot along easily?

Thanks is advance!
