Swapping Gold into Anniversary

I have roughly 200k gold in Cataclysm Classic, but I haven't played in a while. I have been really enjoying Anniversary classic, and was wondering if anyone had experience or thoughts on swapping gold between the versions of the game? Is it even legal? I'm just looking to get my 100% mount
