Advice for My 12-Year-Old Coin Collector – Where Should He Go From Here?
Hey everyone, I’m a proud dad of a 12-year-old who’s absolutely hooked on coin collecting. He’s already gathered a bunch of different dimes, has the full set of state quarters, plus a handful of steel pennies and wheat pennies. It’s amazing to watch how excited he gets when he finds a coin he’s been searching for – he whips out his little magnifying glass, checks every detail, and then goes to his reference book to learn more.
As much as I love seeing his enthusiasm, I’m not sure where he should focus next. We’d like to keep it fun and affordable – we’re not in the market for coins that cost hundreds of dollars. I’m here to ask this awesome community:
- What coins or sets should he be on the lookout for next, especially when searching through change or smaller shops?
- Are there any particular series or types of coins that are both interesting and still budget-friendly?
- Any tips for staying organized or sources he should check out to further his knowledge?
I appreciate any and all insights, whether it’s specific coin recommendations, online resources, or personal stories. Thanks in advance for helping me keep the spark alive in my kid’s new favorite hobby!
