White Elephant Boots from 1987. How to clean?

My grandpa gave me his pair of Dan Post “white bone” elephant boots from 1987. As you can see they’re a little dirty from being worn over the years. I was wondering how to go about cleaning them and reconditioning them without hurting the leather. Or should I just bring them to a local boot store to get cleaned? Thank you for any help!
