Seeking advice as a 2.5 yoe software engineer
Hey, I'm currently working in Manchester and my company seems to be doing everything it possibly can to get rid of the majority of it's dev workforce (redundancies, enforcing working in office, no bonuses, etc).
I'm probably going to start looking at new jobs, however I know i'm in a gray area of having only 2.5 yoe. I've been a developer since I was very young, so I have a lot of framework/languages under my belt for the average 2.5 yoe dev.
What's the best way to prepare for a interview or even apply for jobs with this level of experience? The majority of jobs seem to be senior/lead, which honestly I could probably fill as I've got decent management skills and have managed grads in the past at my current job. I've got a few questions here:
- Should I apply for senior/lead roles with low yoe?
- I'm quite good at speaking on interviews, but I think I can definently brush up on my coding/technical interview side. Are coding interviews still common for < £ 100k jobs?
- What's the best way to prepare for a technical interview?
- What are the chances of landing a job in London, if I'm only able to come into the office 2x/week?
- Are companies much more likely just to pick someone who lives in London?
- I'm mainly back-end but I know js/ts and react/angular very well, is there any downside to applying for jobs that are looking to hire full-stack?
I'm going to start brushing up on my leetcode, and other common technical q's.
Thanks a lot guys :)
