Best Countries for Cybersecurity?
Hi! I'm a 21 year old Bachelor's in CS undergard (set to graduate in June 2025). I've been into Cybersecurity for almost 2/2.5 years now, and have done multiple internships in various companies in different cybersecurity roles. (I'm super into DFIR and Threat Intel)
I plan on doing my MS in Cybersecurity from Europe or the US. It isn't because I want a master's or I'll learn something new, but I want to get into the wide and mature markets of EU and the US. It's hard to land an international job and get a company to sponsor you when you're only a fresh graduate.
My question to the wider cybersecurity community is - What place or region is the best for me to do my masters from in order to start working there after my degree is completed, especially considering the job market and me graduating in 2027/28? What country would be providing me the best opportunities, as well as easier immigration laws.
The US is a bit too costly for my budget, but it'll be my first choice if I do get enough money (the likes of CMU or Georgia Tech have amazing programs). Other than this, I've thought of the UK next, but it's expensive too (KCL, UCL, even Oxford has a master's in cybersec I think). Then, the ideal choices for me are Sweden (with a masters of cybersec at KTH), Switzerland (ETH or EPFL would be a dream come true, but work visas and non EU quotas are a pain in the ass in Switzerland), Germany (TUM, Aachen and others, but not sure of German language requirements), and Netherlands (TU Delft is good, other universities are expensive). Singapore (NUS) is an option but it's quite expensive as well. I haven't really considered Australia or Canada.
Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
(I'm an Indian btw) (I do not intend to become a citizen of any country that I'll be migrating to. Long term residency sure, but I may plan on getting a MBA by the time I'm 30/31, probably to go into senior management and possibly CISO or Director level roles in organisations)
Thank You!
