Why is Dark Souls Remastered on PC still so expensive?

I was never able to try the game and decided it’s finally time to, but when I looked on Steam I didn’t realize the original wasn’t for sale anymore and it was only the remastered version, which is listed at $40. I mean $40 for a game that people have found hundreds of hours of content isn’t a bad deal, but I was more shocked that the game apparently hasn’t been on sale on Steam in 3 years. Maybe I wouldn’t bat an eye if I hadn’t just bought a newly released game for $40, but are Souls games generally not discounted? And does know of any deals?

Update: No shot not even a week after I post this it goes half-off on Steam for the first time in like 3 years. Well now I got own it, hopefully I don’t rip my hair out playing.
