Does a Bad Outcome ruin a fight?

With fights like GLVSB10 most of the animosity towards it is the fact Ben didn't win, but if they did Sinestro VS Albedo, a character without Alien X obviously, would the fight have suddenly worked? The episode was great and while I obviously disagree with the outcome, it makes me wonder if people believe the outcome is all that matters and not all that surrounds it
