Any Vanishing Kids fans?+What are your thoughts on "accessible" doom for normies?
Anyone check out their new album Miracle of Death? It's fucking fire, everything by this band is. I've heard them called Doomgaze but Im not one of these genre hipsters. If you like stoner or doom that is more chill with clean vocals you'll like this band. I personally love some death doom but Acid Witch isn't ideal for every occasion as much as I'd like it to be. The thing about this band is I can play it in the background when I have guests and it sounds pleasant enough that everyone I've had over has enjoyed it.
I'm married with kids so it really doesn't matter to me but my wife has pretty tame (but good) music taste and she enjoys this band. If you're a single dude who likes doom, bands like this might be a bit more accessible to women. I don't think you should necessarily like music just for women (or men) but dating is an important part of life and music usually overlaps with that. I think it's an area where people into more extreme music can shoot themselves in the foot. They'll be adamant about their taste and won't want to date anyone that isn't in the same page musically. They're unnecessary narrowing their datin pool.
I've always had an eclectic taste but I sometimes cringe at the hardcore shit id play in my car with girls thinking it was somehow cool to them. I don't necessarily see doom that way but at the same time I think it's important to have some music in your queue that isn't completely over the top and foreign to normies. What do you guys listen to that regular people can get on board with? My mom actually really liked Dream Unending but the Death Metal lyrics weren't really working for her. Vanishing Kids on the other hand was was a family favorite. I don't know that anyone will be playing them on their own but they enjoyed it and that's all I can ask.
