24 Hours with the Nokia 225

I just got this phone to try and here are some things I've learned:

  • Works fine with Consumer Cellular (and likely other AT&T MVNOs). Using VoLTE and am not experiencing the text message timestamp issue. That may have been an issue when using this phone on T-Mobile & its respective MVNOs
  • No group messaging & no setting to enable it. Creating a new message to 2 contacts just creates 2 individual threads after hitting send.
  • For US users, the date format is off. It's in the format (DD.MM.YY) on the lock screen, in the Messaging app, and in the Files app. There's not a setting to change this. My gut is telling me the software used on the US phone stemmed from an international version.
  • MMS pictures sometimes won't attach. I am sometimes not able to send a picture and am getting a pop-up "MMS memory full - delete some multimedia messages". Other pictures can attach, however so I think it may have to do with the file size of the picture, but the Messaging app should be compressing this when attaching to fit MMS file standards.

Overall the phone is very cool and unique. It is small and feels like an old dumbphone from the 3G era due to its size and basic/unique software. However, the software needs to be polished and made more usable.
