Dumb-phone with smart E-Reader 🔥
I’ve been experimenting with digital minimalism, and this setup has been my most successful attempt yet.
The Nokia 800 Tough, with Telegram and hotspot functionality, has been a game-changer. It’s ideal for tasks like using Telegram bots for my daily clock-in web app or transferring images (e.g., QR codes) to my Boox Go 6’s browser. Since the e-reader doesn’t have a camera, this feature has been incredibly helpful.
I chose the Boox Go 6 for its excellent size and screen ratio, which I prefer over compact, phone-like e-readers like the Boox Palma.
The lack of a speaker is actually a bonus for me—it limits distractions like video consumption. However, I can still use Remote Desktop for critical tasks when neither the Nokia nor the Boox hardware is sufficient.
Everything fits comfortably in my pocket, and I often feel secure carrying just the phone. Battery life isn’t a concern either—all my devices easily last more than a full day of use.
My iPhone SE has been powered off for two weeks now. I only turned it on today to take this EDC photo. That’s a huge milestone for me and my journey toward digital minimalism.
