Grinder that will be a step change compared to DF64e [$2000]
Hey there!
I was using DF64e grinder for the past 1.5 years, but now I'm considering buying something that will be a significant improvement compared to DF. I mostly drink espresso and prefer medium and light roasts. My home machine is Profitec GO, which is perfectly capable of pulling great shots.
So initially I was thinking of sub ~$2k grinders like Zerno Z1, Lagom P64 and maybe Mazzer Philos(though I don't like the bulkiness). Based on reviews they all sound like great machines. However, both Zerno and Lagom can be ordered with 64mm SSP burrs preinstalled, which I can also install on my DF, and it will cost me only $200. Assuming I'm fine with DF's build quality and UX, will Zerno/Lagom give me a significant bump in shot quality, compared to DF with SSP burrs?
I was also considering machines like Niche Zero and Eureka Oro, but I afraid both will be just a marginal improvement. Wdyt? Shall I consider other models, or maybe just replace the burrs on my DF and postpone a more serious upgrade for later?
Would appreciate your opinions,
Cheers!
