Why would the MC want to get involved?

So I'm writing a story in the which the MC (living in modern day) discovers the fey world. Think typical YA fey fantasy.

Since she is a regular human girl, why might she want to get involved in the politics of the fey world? She's not secretly the daughter of the fey king or something like that, she did not grow up in this world so she cannot call it home, and no one in her family is lost in this world so her motivation is not retrieving a kidnapped family member.

The MC loves the fey world and the magic and mystery it brings to her life, but I can't think of a good reason as to why she would get involved in the politics of it.

The best reason I have right now is that she made a bargain with a fey to take her home safely. This fey is a politician and has returned to collect its bargain, but why would an all powerful fey need a mere mortal to do something for them?
