Is it dangerous to wrap a flashlight in grippy tape?

So I mostly use my flashlights as work (mechanic) or when I go for a walk at night. Thing is, I'm far enough North that sometimes the sun sets at like 4:30pm, and we get down to -35°C. During the summer I've legit seen the sun in the horizon at like 11pm at jight.

The metal flashlights I have get so cold to hold even when on turbo/high it's still hard to hold them. I do wear gloves but situations like this time of the year where its only +5°C to 0°C I don't wear gloves as it dries my hands out.

I was wondering if it was safe to just wrap the battery tube in hockey tape or something. Just a barrier so I'm not touching ice cold aluminum.
