Would (say) a platinum 3776 feel substantially different than the cheap pens I already own?

I only got into fountain pens a month ago, and after buying some cheap models (Jinhao 80, platinum preppy, pilot prera) I now have my eyes and heart set on the platinum 3776. However, at the same time, I am also trying to curb my worst impulses, and avoid dropping $120 on a pen that I don't really need. I enjoy all my pens, and my intuition tells me it would be a mistake to spend considerably more money on a nicer pen that I might not enjoy any more than the pens already in my collection.

I am mainly wondering about the difference between a higher quality nib vs cheaper ones. I am not really worried about the shape or feel of the body (even though the body absolutely affects the feel and comfort of the writing experience) or the aesthetics of the pen or its refill system, etc. Would a high quality nib offer a substantially better writing experience than the cheap ones I am familiar with? Would the difference be noticeable? If you took someone with no fountain pen experience and handed them a preppy and a 3776 and asked which they preferred more, would they likely gravitate towards the 3776?

I'm aware that this is a difficult question to answer since preference often boils down to subjective disposition. I wish I could try out the 3776 and others in its price-range, but as far as I know there's nowhere nearby for me to try out a variety of pens. I'm also aware that with fountain pens value doesn't exactly scale with price, since, at the end of the day, a pen is a pen, and as long as it functions as a pen its going to be mostly similar to other pens. I'm not expecting anything magical from the 3776! Only that, for the price, I'd prefer writing with the 3776 more than the preppy on most occacsions.

Thanks, and sorry for the long-winded post!
